The Oklahoma Highway Patrol identified the victim as Byron Richmond, 44, of Edmond

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said a 44-year-old Edmond man died after a four-vehicle crash in Kay County.

Around 5:30 a.m. on Sunday, officials responded to a scene on northbound Interstate 35 in Blackwell where four vehicles were involved in a crash. Authorities said the first vehicle was driving the wrong way on the interstate and crashed head-on into the second vehicle.

The third vehicle crashed into the passenger's side of the second vehicle, and the fourth vehicle swerved to avoid the wreck and crashed into the cable barrier.

The driver of the first vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol identified the victim as Byron Richmond.
